Love BTS? Let their hometowns choose your next trip

A city can feel closer the moment you learn it is your favourite member’s hometown. Busan, Daegu, Gwangju: names you once passed over become places you want to see. Let that feeling choose your next destination. This Bias Trip starts with your favourite member and takes you into a city connected to them, with public points of interest, a meal and time to find places of your own. You do not need a concert date to have a reason to go.

Busan, with Jimin and Jung Kook as your starting point

Busan often brings Haeundae or Gwangalli to mind. Planning around Jimin and Jung Kook gives you a reason to look beyond the waterfront too.

For a food connection to Jimin, consider Seodong Maze Market. Busan’s official tourism website describes its egg dumplings as something he enjoyed eating. For a fan, that makes an intriguing plate; for a companion, it is a chance to try market snacks.

Jung Kook’s hometown neighbourhood is Mandeok-dong in Buk-gu. Visit Busan offers a walk around the area where he grew up. For a meal nearby, consider the cluster of duck restaurants at Mandeok Duck Folk Village. This is a local food suggestion, not a claim that he was a regular at any restaurant.

Choose the neighbourhood that interests you most before adding the coast. Seodong, Mandeok and the beaches need not all fit into one day.

Daegu, for SUGA and V

If SUGA or V is your favourite member, Daegu may already be a name you have looked up. The city has presented both as artists from the area and included related places in its tourism programmes.

V’s hometown story is not confined to Daegu. Geochang is also connected to his upbringing, and a government feature notes those ties. This guide visits Daegu without implying that he spent his entire childhood there.

Gwangju, for j-hope

The destination is Gwangju Metropolitan City. There is also a Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province, so use 광주광역시 when checking maps and transport.

Chungjang-ro K-POP Star Street is one possible first stop. It commemorates artists from Gwangju, and the Korea Tourism Organization identifies it as a place j-hope visited and shared on social media.

For fan-made tributes, the same guide features Youth Balsan Village and Penguin Village. A mural made by fans and a place personally visited by a member mean different things. Knowing the connection helps you choose what matters to you.

After Chungjang-ro, leave time to walk and eat nearby. You came because of j-hope; you can find your own reason to return.
